The annual “how long can we hold out until we turn on the heat” ritual began this morning. My goal is always Thanksgiving – we’ve never made it that long.

My advisor surprised me in the greenhouse yesterday and took some pictures of me making gas exchange measurements in my pelargonium forest.

It’s that time of the year when I scare undergrads asleep after pulling all nighters in the in the science buildings as I walk up to the greenhouse at 4AM.

Sitting here guessing the usernames of tech people I suspect are on micro.blog. Found so far: Federico Viticci, Marco Arment, Casey Liss, John Siracusa, John Gruber.

I had to replace one sensor again, but it looks like we’re back up to 16 working sensors! Round 2 starts tomorrow pending review of the data from the replaced sap flow sensors.

Bad sapflow sensor. Back to the soldering station for you!

Good sapflow sensor.
